Registration and compliance support for Singapore companies
This page covers the parts of running a Singapore company that sit alongside the accounting: ACRA registration details, CorpPass access, GST registration, and the record-keeping rules IRAS expects.
Company registration details held in one place
Your company's registration information, including name, UEN, registered address, and officers, is stored in Flentique and used wherever it is needed on filings and invoices. When something changes at ACRA, you update it once and it propagates to the next return, the next tax invoice, and the next filing.
This sounds minor until you are filing a return with an outdated registered address, or an invoice goes out carrying a former officer's name. Keeping registration details in the same system as the ledger means the entity information and the financial data are always consistent, and the person preparing a GST return is looking at the same company record as the person who raised the invoice.
Practical points to check when you bring a company onto any cloud accounting platform: confirm the UEN field accepts your exact registered format, confirm the registered address is stored as structured data rather than a free-text note, and confirm officer changes can be updated by the company without rebuilding the chart of accounts.
- Company name and UEN, held once and reused across filings and invoices
- Registered address stored as structured data, not a note in a comments field
- Directors and officers recorded against the entity, not per document
- One update at ACRA propagates to the next return, invoice, and filing
CorpPass connection and what it enables
CorpPass is the Singapore government's authentication system for business transactions. To file tax returns electronically on behalf of your company, the software needs authorized access through your CorpPass account. Flentique's onboarding walks through granting that access, including the step where you assign the right CorpPass role to the software.
Once connected, seamless filing to IRAS works without you logging into myTax Portal manually to submit each return. Access can be reviewed and revoked from your CorpPass account at any time, and we recommend confirming who inside the company holds the CorpPass admin role before onboarding begins, so the connection is set up on the first attempt.
Confirm the CorpPass admin
Identify who inside the company can grant and revoke access on its behalf.
Assign the software role
Grant the correct CorpPass role so the platform can file on the company's behalf.
Test the first filing
Run the connection against the next return due so the workflow is proven before a deadline.
Review access annually
Check who holds access after officer or advisor changes, and revoke what is no longer needed.
GST registration and threshold tracking
GST registration becomes mandatory in Singapore once taxable turnover exceeds the threshold, and voluntary registration is available earlier in some cases. Flentique tracks your rolling turnover so you can see how close you are, and GST registration status is recorded against the entity rather than against a single return.
Once registered, the platform handles GST on transactions and return preparation from the same data that produced your accounts. If your position changes, the software reflects it without a rebuild of your chart of accounts, which matters because re-mapping tax codes mid-year is where most GST errors begin.
- Rolling turnover, not calendar year. The threshold is tested on a rolling basis, so the software should track a moving window rather than a January reset.
- Tax code consistency. One chart of accounts with GST codes set at the account level avoids re-coding transactions at return time.
- Registration is a separate step. The application itself is made through the appropriate government channel; the platform records the status and prepares the returns that follow.
Record keeping rules and the audit trail
IRAS requires businesses to keep records that support their tax filings, and those records need to be retrievable if requested. Flentique maintains a complete transaction history with timestamps and user attribution, so the question of who posted a journal entry, and when, has an answer that does not depend on someone's memory of the week.
Invoices, credit notes, and supporting documents can be attached to the relevant record rather than stored in a separate folder named after the month. When a query comes, you are searching a system rather than reconstructing from bank statements and email threads. The retention behaviour follows the record-keeping expectations for Singapore-registered companies, and the audit trail is readable without specialist training.
One practical habit worth adopting at setup: agree internally what counts as supporting documentation for a claim before the first return is filed. That single decision removes most of the back-and-forth when a query arrives eighteen months later.
Every transaction carries a timestamp and the user who posted it.
Invoices, credit notes, and supporting files attach to the record they belong to.

IRAS Accounting Software Register Plus and what it signals
IRAS encourages companies to use accounting software listed on the ASR+ register. The register indicates that a product supports official tax-related workflows, which is a more useful check than comparing feature grids across vendor pages.
When evaluating any tool, confirm two things: whether it appears on ASR+, and whether the specific workflow you need, such as Form C-S filing or GST submission, is covered by that listing. A product can be on the register for one workflow and not another, so the second question is the one that matters for your filing calendar.
Flentique's compliance positioning is built around supporting those official workflows directly, so the data you keep in the ledger is the data the return is prepared from.
Working with your corporate secretary and accountant
Most Singapore companies rely on a corporate secretary and an accountant, and Flentique is designed to slot into that arrangement rather than replace it. You can grant scoped access so your secretary handles ACRA filings while your accountant sees the ledger and prepares returns. Neither needs your personal CorpPass credentials, which keeps the access question separate from the identity question.
When advisors change, access is revoked and reassigned without disrupting the books. That matters more than it sounds: advisor turnover is common, and a platform that ties access to a personal login makes every handover a small project. Role-scoped access turns it into a setting.
Handles ACRA filings from the company record. Sees registration details and filing status, not the full ledger. Does not need the company's CorpPass credentials held personally.
Sees the ledger and prepares returns from the same transaction data. GST status and CorpPass filing access are configured at the entity level.
Reviews what each role can see and revokes access when an advisor changes, without touching the books.
What happens if you switch accounting software
Bringing existing books onto Flentique means importing your chart of accounts, opening balances, and historical transactions where needed. The compliance setup, including CorpPass and GST registration status, is configured during onboarding rather than bolted on later.
Companies moving from spreadsheets typically start with a cleanup period before the first filing on the new system. The goal is a clean opening position, so that the first GST return filed from Flentique is defensible and the numbers can be traced back to source documents without a reconstruction exercise.

When compliance needs outgrow standard software
There is a point where a business needs integrated finance and operations rather than accounting software alone, and that is typically where ERP platforms such as SAP Business One are considered. That decision is driven by operational complexity, not by tax filing, and it usually arrives with multi-entity consolidation, inventory, or manufacturing requirements.
For companies whose compliance needs are GST, corporate tax filing, and clean record keeping, a focused cloud platform covers the requirement with less implementation overhead and a shorter path to the first return. If you are unsure which side of that line you sit on, it is a reasonable question to bring to onboarding rather than after the first filing.
Compliance questions we are asked most
Short answers to the four things that come up before a company connects filing access or moves its books.
Do I need CorpPass to file through Flentique?
Yes. Filing to IRAS on your company's behalf requires authorized CorpPass access, which is configured during onboarding and can be revoked from your CorpPass account.
Does Flentique handle my GST registration?
Flentique tracks your turnover against the registration threshold and records your GST status. The registration application itself is made through the appropriate government channel.
What is the Accounting Software Register Plus?
It is an IRAS register of accounting software that supports official tax-related workflows. Checking whether a product appears on ASR+ is a useful compliance signal.
Can my corporate secretary and accountant both have access?
Yes. Access is scoped by role, so your secretary and accountant see what they need without sharing personal credentials.
Set up registration, CorpPass, and GST in one onboarding
Bring your ACRA details, confirm who holds CorpPass admin, and tell us your current GST position. We will walk through the sequence with you and flag anything that needs attention before your first filing from the platform.
